  did you notice or experience the fact that to have an approved romantic relationship you had to be baptised, and for men often you would be expected to be a min servant or elder, or at the very least reaching out in the congregation.

  i'm sure others had other rules such as being a pioneer or something.

  its another area where you are pressured into conforming to a certain ideal - not a scriptural one but an organisational one.

And yet the NT never said we'd all be the same, some would have one strength and others something else, and the least of us was essencial to the whole (annointed ones of course!).

  despite his busy schedule, paul was always eager to do more in jehovah?s service.. notice how using an ot example leaves jesus out of the picture.. [picture on page 29] fear of god is a precious heritage that parents can pass on to their children.

  when you think about it, when the elders disfellowship and then shun a person, it's to make an impact on the active ones still going to the meetings, rather than the df'd one.. they elders couldn't care less about the one who has been disfellowshipped.

  that person is dead to their eyes.. the reason they make this so terrible, is a warning to the ones still active, not to try this.. some kind of blackmail, intended to the active ones.. .

  It is to instill fear into the R & F, for sure but also protects them from learning the truth as the DF one questions outside of the box, and never can they allow their secrets to be discovered!

  I so look forward to my monday lunch times when i can look at your review Blondie, thanks so much.

  I have to say I could never reconcile the God is love with all the killing he did of innocent people! The more you look at it the more you can see the WTS has to convince the reader how it all makes sense when it so patently doesnt. To have to use OT examples that dont even work to send the message to the R & F to fear is so contrary to what Jesus taught, and because the apostate society, insists in cutting its members out of his covernant and blinding their minds to the real message, they will remain a judgemental, rule abiding, mistaken and dupped people.

  This is what I like about this site, the observations made show me that I wasnt alone in the way i felt when I was a Witless. My mind couldnt get around the fact that the Pharisees would be condemned and yet the amount of rules as a JW - either written or spoken, were over bearing and weighed me down heavily. Some of it was just completely petty for the sake of gaining submission. An example of this was that I would do roving mikes. In the summer despite having airconditioning, the temperature would go up and I tended to sweat quite easily, so still smartly dressed (another rule without biblical backing) I did the mikes without my jacket on, I would have loved to have loosed or removed my tie too in reality, and an Elder gets up and councils me to put my jacket on - what freeking idiots! Power mad they were. The only good thing that comes from the crazy double talk is that it doesnt add up in people's minds and may eventually make them break free of the indoctrination.

  I'm a bit late in commenting on this - been away, but another great post Blondie! It is very depressing hearing the WTS double talk such as: condeming the Pharisees for making worship a burden by their extra oral rules, and how wrong it is, to then review the insert for a Convention and all the do's and don'ts, what to wear when in and around the convention (even in your own time), how to behave and act, what food to bring etc etc etc. I know that feeling depressed about what I was taught and how it didnt add up with the Bible (two classes of christians/paradise/politics in the congregation) eventually brought me down so low I had to leave for my mental well being. Although I still feel i'm recovering, I certainly do feel more at peace, from the constant pointing out of your flaws, not doing enough service, false doctrines and so on.

  well one thing that i don't feel stupid for is the statement- owww did you feel jehovah's holy spirit!

  i don't know about you but i have never felt jehovah's spirit while i was in the org, .

  Hello daydream,

  I know what you mean about the spirit! I now know why I didn't feel it, we were not annointed and to apply the bible (NT) to us was inconsistent and wrong. I now read it and see there wasn't two classes of christians only one, all acceptable to God. I dont actually believe in the bible these days but i'm still happy to look at it to gain understanding of my past. I'd recommend you read the NT through in a month or so and see what it really says, its amazing! I also found it enjoyable - not like study with the witnesses.

  Great review thanks! I can remember sitting through one of the many such study articles as this one and going from agreeing with it and over the years to, how arrogant to put this organisation in such an important place - effectively before Jesus! Disgusting...

  Hehe a holiday is a holiday - to me thats time out of the normal routine, such a meetings and service. I can't believe how much I obviously didnt like it but wasn't prepared to do anything about it for years and years until I was on my knee's. I especially hated it when I used to stay over with my wife's family at xmas time and suddenly someone would whip out a Watchtower and start preparing for it! That would make me feel bad as at that time I rarely looked at the magazine until the meeting (I think that somewhat helped my mind by not being too bombarded by the propagander).
